A blast from the past!

From 2008 till now!
Whilst cleaning my bookshelves in the weekend I found this photo from 2008 when I taught some of my current class as cute little Year 1's and 2's.

Technology Term 1 2014

This term students are working in either Sewing, creating a bag or Woodwork, creating a box.
The photos below show lots of concentration and creativity!  Watch out for the designer bags and boxes that will make their way home in the next couple of weeks!

Hola from Spain and Voki.com

Hola from Spain!  We are learning how to say our personal details in Spanish.
We had a lot of fun with a website called voki.com.
If you click on the link under each student's name, it will take you to their Voki avatar.  Click on the play button and you will hear them saying:
Their name : Me Ilamo ________________
Their age:     Tengo (diez 10, once 11, doce 12 or trece 12) anos
Their nationality:  soy de nueva zelanda
(I am sure I should be able to embed these straight onto the site, just a bit too technical at this stage!)
ENJOY!   DISFRUTAR!

Self Portraits - Arcimboldo Style!

Giuseppe Arcimboldo was an Italian painter, a mannerist of the 16th century.  The 'Mannerism' was the art of portraying a close relationship between human and nature. He was best known for creating imaginative portrait heads made of elements such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, and books, i.e., he painted representations of these objects on the canvas arranged in such a way that the whole collection of objects formed a recognizable likeness of the portrait subject.

Room 5's task was to create a self portrait, on a silouhette shape, that showed images and symbols about their interests and talents.  Giuseppe Arcimboldo would have been proud to have called these amazing works of art his own!
